Race Course Description

Please note: the 2008 TDD event has been CANCELLED to allow for the rescheduling of FirmMan RI. FirmMan RI had to be postponed because of Hurricane Hanna.

The run and bike courses for the TDD Duathlon are as challenging as they are beautiful. You may want to add a few hill workouts to your training schedule to prepare for this race.

The 2.9 mile run course begins by taking a left out of the transition area onto Boston Road. Follow Boston Road and take a right onto Hutchinson Road. This scenic road (it really has a sign at the end of it calling it a "scenic road") primarily goes downhill. At the end of Hutchinson Road, take a left onto Sutton Road. Then take the next left onto a narrow road that connects with 8 Lots Road. You bear left onto 8 Lots Road--a short quad burner of a road. At the end of 8 Lots Road, bear left at the fork onto Boston Road and follow Boston Road until you take a right into the transition area at the Sutton schools.

The 17 mile, three loop bike course begins by taking a right out of the transition area onto Boston Road. Almost immediately, take a right onto Potter Hill Road and climb a moderate hill. Take a right onto Central Turnpike Road. It’s a very long downhill. Take a right onto West Sutton Road and power along the false flat. Then take a right onto Boston Road and enjoy the slight downhill before beginning a long, gradual uphill. At the top of the hill, follow Boston Road (a long, gradual downhill) that will take you back to the transition area. Repeat for a total of three loops.

Quadmultisport will provide support on the bicycle course. The course is open to traffic and follow the instructions of course marshals. Please keep to the right while riding to allow other cyclists to pass, and remember…no drafting.

After the bike course, head back out for another loop of the run course, and then under the huge finish line banner. Grab a bottle of Summit Spring Water and join the festivities. After the TDD Duathlon, join us for the Grand Prix Awards Ceremony conveniently held at the race venue. Remember the winner of the custom Guru's name will be drawn at the Grand Prix Awards Ceremony. People earn entries by placing in the top five in their category at FIRM races throughout the 2008 season.

Other Information

Please note: the 2008 TDD event has been CANCELLED to allow for the rescheduling of FirmMan RI. FirmMan RI had to be postponed because of Hurricane Hanna.

Set in bucolic Sutton, Massachusetts, the TDD Duathlon is a memorial race for Tyrus, Dante, and Daniel Vescio, triplet sons of local athletes Elaine and Don Vescio. This event is a celebration of the brief lives of Tyrus, Dante, and Daniel, and is a fundraiser for the UMass Memorial Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Bring your kids; this event has been designed to be especially family-friendly. The venue has three playgrounds on it—one to the far right of the campus, a preschool playground to the right of the buildings, and another climbing gym behind the buildings. Plus the ever popular musician, Mr. Kim Webster, will perform for the kids (and the young at heart) during the duathlon. After the duathlon, the kids get their chance to race in the TDD Kids Fun Run for ages 0 to 12 years.

There will be plenty of music, food and fun with Starbucks providing coffee and pastries, FIRM providing the usual post race munchies, and additional food and beverages at the Grand Prix Awards Ceremony held after the TDD Duathlon, at the race venue.
